If you are talking about someone else's hand (the palm), I generally ask the client to face me and place his hand on a pillow so his hand is "upside-down" toward me, and as you describe I start with the wrist (or however far up the arm I need to start) and later go out to the fingertips. i derive my motifs and designs on the palm from what I started at the wrist and continue to complete the palm, sort of working left to right as much as I can. Then (I am right-handed), I do the fingers, left to right. (Don't start with the pointer finger of someone's left hand, for example; it just makes things a bit too difficult!). When in doubt, move the person to fit where you need him or her to be, or contort yourself to paint the difficult parts (reminds me of trying to finish those *(^@#%)&* armbands that people love getting so much!) ~Rupal ----------- : Greetings. : My question is; : When working on the hand, where does one start. I would imagine it : stems from how much you are going to do. So lets say that I'm going : to Henna from the upper wrist to the fingure tips. And, how does one : postion oneself in realtion to the work being done. Hand in front of : you or hand to the side of you? Both? : Any help would be greatly appreciated : Bright Blessings : W.Raven :
