: "In response to your concerns about henna, We carry the following : brand: henna is not organically grown : but is 100% henna. The different colors of henna are derived from : different parts of the same plant, including black. I hope I've : answered your questions." : Is that true, can it all be from the same plant? Also is it safe if : it wasent organically grown? I heard the same schtick from them. I tried the black, but while I had no hideous reaction, I did end up with a hideous grey smudge as a "design." Definitely not for skin, nope, no way. I'm not so sure I believe that claim. The black powder looks and smells a little different than regular henna, and like I said, it does not stain the skin (I think others here have had that experience). As for organic, I doubt that much (if any) organically-grown henna exists. It takes a long time to get the shrubs to a harvestable height (the "fame" of organic farming is recent), and it is cultivated in India and the Middle East, where regulations are very different (and I doubt there are any large-scale organic movements there, yet).
