Be very cautious using ammonia....when it works. the results are beautiful, but if you use it unwisely, you can get caustic burns and lose your henna to exfoliation. I have not had good results mixing henna paste with a base. It releases dye when it is in an acid mix. However, you can certainly percipitate the henna color to dark brown or black bith a base after it has stained the skin. Email me if you want the ammonia rant. I do not, however, have a pee rant. (So suburban American I need something in a glossy package.) I can email you pictures of before and after ammonia, turning a burgundy henna to pure black. Well....the pee thing could be a spendid answer to all people who want black henna from traditional henna artists.....hand them a little flyer with their henna with explicit instructions! (Find a bucket, drink plenty of fluids!)
