It has been too long since I posted/visited here. After a crazy few weekends of henna'ing for hours and hours straight...made loads of money...just got burned out...I have decided that doing henna for 18 hours straight with people standing in line for hours - asking the same question hundreds of times is a bit too much for me (4 weekends in a row)....tomorrow I have accepted my first appointment in 3 weeks! I am looking forward to it and I look forward to the one-on-one-take my-time appointment. Funny...I was the only person doing henna here in Anchorage... I appeared in both newspapers, did interviews...and now I find that there are now at least 6 other "henna artists" showing up local fairs...I guess when they see my lines they figure that "there's a quick way to make money". It is a bit sad... After my recent break from henna...I have decided to just do private appointments, friends, family, spiritually-meaningful events (i.e. weddings, births, etc etc....) I dont want this beautiful artform to be looked upon as anything less than it is...and I hope that my high profile work has not angered the "henna spirits".... Dont know if any of these words or filled with wisdom or not...I would just ask each of you that enjoys the artform of henna to explore your reasoning for doing so and to feel good about what you are doing... I guess becoming a grandma at 36 years of age makes one reflect on all aspects of life... Take care...keep well...and henna from the heart! Namaste' Di Anchorage, Alaska
