You're really better off buying wholesale anyway -- 99.999 % of the henna powder you get in an indian grocery (or off-the-shelf anywhere) is old and has lost most of it's dyeing power. I try not to use any henna that's been harvested longer than 2 months ago -- and I consistantly get great results. And -- hair henna is NOT skin henna -- not even the health-food store kind. It's from a different part of the plant. Skin henna is from only the topmost, most potent leaves of the plant. Hair henna is from the rest of the plant, like twigs and other cellulose material. Why not buy it online? It's so much cheaper (besides being fresh), and fast. : Argh. I went trotting all over downtown Kingston (Ontario) today : trying to find henna powder. I'm not anywhere near finished the bag I : have, but I want to be prepared. : There is NONE in the city. None that doesn't come in a kit, that is. : You can buy tubes of paste, but I'd far rather mix my own. Looks like : I'll be buying online, unless there's a source I've missed. I haven't : found anything like an Indian grocers or anything here yet, but I'm : not entirely giving up hope. : Here's something, though. I was in one trendily ethnic store asking : about it, and was informed that you can't buy henna powder for mehndi : in Ontario at all. Apparently it's sold out province-wide. Any fellow : Ontarians out there who can verify this? : Shop owners kept trying to sell me the henna for hair, telling me it's : exactly the same thing. I read some ingredients skeptically, but : didn't bother. I'm not that desperate yet. : -Keltie : >^,,^<
