: Has anyone used any products from the "Black Henna" Web page? The : address is http://www.greenheart.com/blackhenna : Also, I am interested in knowing what the darkest color of henna there : is that I can buy and where I can purchase it via mail or through a : store possibly in Atlanta. Are these people joking? I just read their web page and the promo is ridiculous... here's some quotes: >Last 2-3 weeks (3 times as long as traditional Mehndi) Ummm... I don't know what they consider "traditional Mehndi" but the formula used by the artists I go to lasts at LEAST 2-3 weeks. (And no, I haven't been able to get her recipie!) For that matter even when I do a design on my own it usually lasts longer than a week. >Stays pure black on any skin color Then I'm sorry, but it's not pure henna. I don't know what kind of metal salts or other chemicals they have to add to it to make it go black, but henna formulations are not controlled by the FDA and I'm really suspicious about the safety of "black" henna. I'd stay away from it if I were you. Go down to an Indian or Mid-Eastern grocery store and get some of the real stuff. Yes it comes out brown or orange, but if you mix it yourself you know what's in it and you can know if it's safe and natural There's several recipies on these pages that you can try (I still want to try the one made with bitters). If you really want black designs go play with a sharpie marker. -jj
