: I have a chance to be a vendor at a bridal expo in Beverly Hills next : weekend, and I have to decide whether to participate or not by Friday. : Here is the deal: I pay $350 ($200 less than the other vendors), give : little free tattoos, and try to convince the 500 or so brides and : bridal consultants who attend the show that a henna bridal shower or : bachelorette party would be a good time. It is alot of money to do an : event where I probably won't make a dime (unless some enthusiastic : bride wants to give me a down payment), but my neighbor who does : wedding flowers says he gets tons of business by doing these expos. Oh, : and the show promoter says that if I do the show she will put me on her : web site free for 6 months! That sounds great to me, as the site is : advertised in all the big brides magazines (I went to Borders & : checked). The promoter says she doesn't have anyone else at the expo : advertising for shower entertainment. : Is anybody out there doing lots of bridal showers or has anyone tried : an expo to generate business? Any ideas on how I can make the booth : look great and show the ladies a good time? The way I see it, the more : colorful and fun I appear at this event, the more likely I am to get : business. I can wear my middle eastern garb & a bindi, put a pretty : sari on the table, play pleasant music, have my pictures, design books : and books about mehndi out to look at, etc... : Should I try it? Any advice anyone? : Thanks, : Miss Monica I don't know what to say about finance... but I do know that a lot of brides look for a way to incorporate something from their heritage in their wedding. My sister-in-law (married last June) searched high and low for someone to henna her for her wedding. I think having henna at a bridal expo is a great idea! I'm getting married this June 00 and have myself been looking for something traditionally Korean to add to my wedding to honor my mother's heritage. Haven't found anything yet but if I were to see something at a Bridal show I'd jump at it! That's where the brides are just looking for someone to say "well what if you did this..." Show some pictures of hennaed brides and I'm certain that there will be people just "dyeing" to be hennaed!
