Mehndi and Darker African American Skin

As Many of you may have realized African Americans come in many
different shades. The problem I am having concerns those friends of
mine with darker skin. People with lighter African Skin have no
problem seeing the designs the mehndi paste leaves, but my darker
friends are not able to see their designs as well. When I
apply mehendi to my own skin, I get a wonderful dark brown color, but
the same dark brown color on a darker friend is very hard to see and
sometimes appears to be orange (Y-U-C-K-Y,YUCKY!). PLEASE offer me any
advise that may be helpful! I think that mehendi is a very beautiful
and spiritual artform and I pray that people of ALL skin tones can be
included in it's expression.
