Heavy callous henna longevity VS exfoliation from wear.... It's my experience that when your skin is under harsh conditions, the callous layer builds up well in excess of wear.... IE when I'm barefoot all summer camping, my foot sole henna lasts 8 weeks at least. In the winter, (and I'm still mostly barefoot) it's good for no more than 5. I think skin callous overcompensates for wear. Henna will penetrate easily an 1/8 of an inch into solid callous...the sort of hoof-y part of your skin that could be there for decades. (I measured the depth by skimming off chunks of my hooves to see just how far in the henna had gone....it never gets to the blood-bearing layer. It will go as far as the skin is really, really dead.) So...grim housework will fade henna, certainly, but if your skin is deep enough, it will still show henna because it penetrated so far.
