: There was some earlier discussion about mehndi and hospitals - : marking one's body as one's own, and someone who used colorful
: fabrics and such to make their hospital room their (temporary)
: space. Maybe some variation of this would help your Aunt feel more
: in-control and positive, and help the healing?
Yes, that was me. I whole heartedly believe that decorating and beautifying a hospital room can make a real difference in the
patient's mindset, and we all know how very important that is to
healing. Defining that space as (temporarily) your own makes you feel
more in control of what's happening there, and reminds us (who enter)
that you are a real person (not just a "case"). Any ritual
significance to that decoration can only amplify the message that this
person is loved and wished well, underscoring her right to respect,
adding to her comort and reminding her of the life she is fighting
 for.
I add my positive wishes for your aunt to the others.
