: Recently a friend who had never been willing to draw, went ahead and : drew in one of my classes. It was fine! Looked great! I asked her : why it had taken 9 yearsfor her to pick up a brush. She said she : thought people who couldn't draw well shouldn't draw. I said, do : people who have an untrained or poor voice never sing for joy? Here, here! Besides, we're in a culture that assumes you have to be professional to do anything, and yet tastes vary so much that even cat paintings sell. So...all you really need is the guts to show it. They'll think it's good even if you don't. This continually astounds me. I think as long as you keep a "I'm in this for the fun" attitude you can even get others to join you...and watch their self-confidence bloom. (In my case, this is easy, as their designs are usually more interesting than mine. Even a "bad example" serves a function.) Anon "Enthusiasm is my middle name" Non-Artist.
