What a fabulous story....great images are conjured up. It reminds me
of a passage in Esther Freud's book "Hideous Kinky" (on which the
movie was based...if you haven't seen the movie, go! I believe it
shows Morocco as it truly is, without all the romantic fog). The
passage recounts the two sisters encounter with henna, in their
hair. The younger girl, from whose perspective the book is written,
talks about her helmet of hennaed hair in which sounds echoed. They
have these women neighbors, prostitutes, who are always using henna
on their hair.
