In regards to the tradition of hennaeing as a part of purification
rituals after menstruation... maybe that's hennaeing to say "NOW!"

I know some 19th century Moroccan blood rituals for keeping men from
straying that seem to be related.

Hennaeing scorpion patterns have some relationship to keeping men from
fooling around.

Then there's that Gypsy henna anti-pollution thing...
