You could also try any hefty paper -- stationery with high cotton
content, watercolor paper, cardstock. I've done basic staining tests
on plain old white typewriter paper and it doesn't bleed, but plain
white paper isn't as pretty as handmade paper or high quality
stationery.

The key to dark color is to iron, iron, iron.
