Proving copyright is perfectly simple...but its such a bother! Lawyers
and stuff if it gets heavy. Also, if someone else published the
stuff, it would be rather like trying to stuff toothpaste back into
the tube. I'd rather just be sort of cautious and save myself the
nuisance.
