: I am a single dad trying to organize my eight year old daughter's : first slumber party. She asked me for "henna" and that's how I : stumbled here. What do I do? Where do I begin? You could make the "appearance" of henna by drawing on the skin with Crayola washable markers. The brown one actually looks pretty much like a light henna stain. For 8 year olds, try designs with hearts and daisys, or for the more adventurous, vines and paisleys. Hand out markers to all the girls, make sure you have a few sample designs on hand (there are plenty on various web pages if you have the time to search) and let the party begin! If you feel like spending money on a book with nice color photgraphs, the one by Sumita Batra is good. It has instructions on recipes and the use of stecils if you feel like doing all the work of real henna and lots of designs ranging from simple to terrifying. This is the most popular book in my collection when I work doing henna on girls of this age range. Maybe it's because it's got pictures of celebrities in it. Good Luck! Carrie
