I agree that it would be nice to have one place where all the pertinent information is summed up but given the subject (henna) and also the medium (the web), that is VERY unlikely. There is basic information, as you realized from reading this forum, but there are lots of different little things that people try to get certain effects. It would be impossible to say that any one of them is wrong or right, and that you have also probably gleaned from this list. How many times has someone reported that they had effect A with product X, only to have someone else say they have effect B, and another effect C. And Catherine does her side-by-side tests which are very helpful, but may not apply to every person here because we all have different skin types and body temperatures. You didn't make a mistake buying the mehlabiya oil. I have read in many places that this is an essential item for doing henna...I don't know why I never bought it. I have been told by Moroccans that I should put kerosene or gasoline in my henna.....I just happened to think that sounded gross and avoided it (it wasn't any informed or logical decision!). Henna is imprecise which makes it frustrating, but also adds to its allure...it is organic, it is artistic, it is quirky. Just be glad that we have a place where we can bounce ideas off of each other, where we can share our triumphs and our goofs and where we can immerse ourselves in henna (coming out with orange skin!). And through our efforts here, a new FAQ will eventually develop.
