Traditional henna powder is the powdered leaf of Lawsonia Inermis, a plant. Just plain, dried ground up henna leaves. Plain traditional henna powder isn't supposed to have ANYTHNG ELSE in it. Powdered henna leaf is very, very safe. If you're writing a paper on this or something, email me and I can send you a gif of the molecular form of the Lawsone molecule, the dyestuff that is in henna leaves. (If you have "black" henna powder, it may have added PPD, para-phenylenediamine, in it, and if so, you're in big trouble. PPD can cause angioneurotic edema, blistering, scarring, renal failure and circulatory collapse.)
