The better versions of these are basically temptu-like (alcohol-soluble) paint with an extremely thin clear coating to keep them together. Safe; they never go into your skin at all, but sit on top. They can be fun. The cheaper versions are water-soluble (all the way down to the really cheap kind that used to come with Cracker Jacks or in gumball machines). The best ones will last a week with care, if you put them on a relatively non-flexing patch of skin. Guideline: the faster it goes on, the faster it comes off. (Not a perfect guide to quality, but a first-cut.) They're still not henna, as you know. Usually, you can't use them as guidelines for henna, either, 'cause they form a barrier.
