I've heard the consistency described variously as toothpaste (when
people add honey), cookie dough, thick lotion, et cetera... Catherine
has some very colorful definitions somewhere in the archives. Natasha
describes this as alchemy, not exact science :) I think it depends on
the design you want. Thick lines probably don't need a very stiff or
gooey mehndi; thin frilly things require something stiff enough to hold
the shape of the line, but thin enough to come out of a tiny hole -
chocolate chip dough is too stiff for that.
