OK, the next time you make henna paste, pick up a teaspoonful of the
stuff. Turn the spoon at a 90 degree angle and let the henna drop off
the spoon. Count the seconds it takes to produce a FREE drop -
meaning not just a string of falling paste but a blob that cuts itself
off of the spoon (does this make any sense?). It usually takes about
3 seconds for a free drop when I make my paste on the thin side,
longer if I want to keep the lines from spreading.

Describing the proper (?) consistency of henna paste is one of the
hardest things about the whole darn process.
