: I can't answer your question but i was thinking that one could use : the walnut hull crystals to give henna a boost, giving a nice dark : initial stain (great for those clients who freak out if the stain is : too light initially). It doesn't seem that this would really help : make henna darker. OK, I tried fresh walnut hulls in my mordant for the same reason, looking for a darker stain and to possibly alter any chance of orange, people just are not that crazy about orange on their skin. It makes it a more choclate color but as CCJ mentioned it does not have good binding qualities with the skin and fades. For altering the color, essential oils do the trick. Camphor is #1 for a fast dark color, and you do not need much to get this. Eucalyptus oil is all around safer to use on the public, not so much of a chance of allergic reaction. When mixing your paste, just use more oil in place of your liquid, it really accelerates the color. The # 1 thing for fantastic color is fresh fresh fresh henna. Also, Cloves and clove oil are great.
