I have been bellydancing now about 2 years, and started henna before
that. The designs that I put on myself REALLY just depends on what
kind of routine I'm doing, or what outfit. If I'm going all out
bedouin or tribal or gypsy then of course I go for the bolder designs.
Normally I don't pay that much attention to cultural significance
because I'm not into SKA or anything like that. I dance with a guild
of dancers here in MN and we love having henna.
If we know what a design means or if it has some historical
significance, then that is just an additional BONUS :)
