Henna for good luck in hockey

When I was in college I remember being close to one of the members of
the girls' field hockey team. The team had made it to the state
finals and the day before the final all the girls hennaed their feet
and toenails for good luck! I don't remember if they won, but I do
remember that my friend was rather tomboyish and otherwise would not
usually wear henna.
