I found the same thing to be happening to me and found it hard to
control. What my Moroccan henna lady did was lay down lines with the
henna flowing freely, she would just throw them down, allowing them
to run off the edge of the hand (they were usually long lines across
the hand). Imagine that you are laying a piece of thread across your
hand and the ends hang over the sides of your hand; and with henna
those ends just fall off from the weight of the henna.
