If a temporary tattoo lasts longer than 2 - 12 weeks, somethings awry ...because if it's in the upper layers (epicermis) it exfoliates in about a month. That's the average time it takes for new skin cells to go from the dermis to the epidermis and be exfoliated. Upper layers are dead, and that's where they can be safely stained. If it's lasting longer, it's getting into the blood-bearing layers, and then you have to deal with potential infection, toxicity and all sorts of other scary stuff. Mind, there's an awful lot of stuff on the market now that's called Mehndi Art .... some of which hasn't the faintest resemblance to henna body art, a wonderful art that goes back at least 9000 years ... but that's show biz, and if it makes people curious about the real thing, it's cool.
