Don't know if anyone would be interested or not, but thought I would send this out for sharing...... The Smithsonian FreerGallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Galleries are the National Museums of Asian Art... so what good will this info do to my Sisters (& Brothers in Henna)far from D.C.? Well, if you send a request for their Calendar you will receive a neat calendar of events at the Galleries, but it also contains info about history and artists etc.... regarding Hindu and other eastern traditions and celebrations... rituals etc.... for instance... I missed this unfortunatly... but if I can remember...somewhere in India or there abouts the Women decorate the outside walls of there homes with white paint (chalk?)as prayers or devotions... the designs similar to the Mehandi designs, floral etc... I guess they decorate sidewalks etc... I think they celebrate and decorate all sorts of things.... they did a demonstration of it at the Gallery ... but the calendar explained it all.. pictures etc... so if you need some inspiration or yet another connection..try the Gallery www.si.edu/asia enjoy wendy It is full of useful information... and if you come to D.C. don't miss these Galleries!!! They are JEWELS
