Removing Henna from Hair

Hi... I've used red henna for about 10 years. I used to leave it on
for HOURS (6-8 hours) and I got the most awesome bright red. The last
three or four times my hair didn't really pick up any color. Has
anyone ever experienced that?

Anyway, I haven't henna'd for about a year and it doesn't LOOK like I
have any henna in my hair. I was thinking of trying a more
conventional product but they all say SPECIFICALLY not to use it if
you have henna in your hair. I heard it has something to do with the
metals or something? I really don't want my hair to fall out, break,
or turn a funny color, but I'm sick of my blah brown right now. I
thought maybe I could get the henna out somehow?

Please help, I really feel like a color change!
