Found a great book on symbols at the library: "The Illustrated Book of
Signs and Symbols" by Miranda Bruce-Mitford, DK Publishing, 1996,
ISBN:0-7894-1000-1
Doesn't go into depth about anything, but has lots and lots of symbols
and meanings from around the world. From foodstuffs (like peaches,
bread, dates) to flowers to architectural styles. There's even a
picture of hennaed hands in the Wedding and love section.
