I'd wondered about that too ..... there are quite a records of henna being used for the deceased, so it was certainly done .... perhaps it's left on a long time,( the deceased don't move about all that much) or perhaps it's more for custom than show, or perhaps the client wasn't apt to fuss about results ..... Maybe in a hot climate, the henna was applied and the client was hustled to a pyre fairly quickly, so appearance wasn't that big a deal. I don't think I'd want anyone to bother hennaeing me if I cease to move, but I do want "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop played at the wake. Very loudly. (No, I'm not due to stop moving anytime very soon)
