Dark colored toenails, oh my!

I guess this is what I get for trying someone elses henna, but
anyway...I used some of my friends henna that she has had in her
freezer for about 1 month and used it on my feet nver actually getting
any on the nails themselves. I NewSkinned it and wrapped it, finally
placing a plastic bag and socks. Well, the color was great, nice and
burgundy but my toenails are a grayish color. This has never happened
to me before :-(
Anyone have any idea why this would happen? It's very unattractive.
It's been about a week and a half and they are still the same color.
