: I am wanting to get started doing henna tattoos. Cool they're fun. : ?'s : Should I use stencils to begin with? Sure if you don't trust your draftsmanship or artistry. : How much should I charge? Absolutely NOTHING! Get some practice. Learn the art. Develop a good formula. Try doing it on your friends. Do a bit of research into traditional designs. THEN... when you know what you're doing, then you can think of charging. By then you should have an idea of your level of artistry and what the going rate is in your area. In my area it ranges from $10 for a small peice to $20-30 per hand or foot and upwards from there for larger body peices. Basically as a professional you really should at a minimum be able to offer your clients a wide variety of traditional (indian, arab and african) and non-traditional designs, as well as a good quality henna paste (recipies on this site are a great way to start) and instructions for appropriate care. It doesn't sound like you have that yet... however there are a few books out there and lots of photos on the internet to get you started learning. -jj
