I have heard from an Indian friend of mine that these are only
available overseas in India, the Middle East and Asia.

Apparently it is difficult to import them into the US because they
have cancer causing agents in them.
I understand people rub the leaves onto thier lips to stain them red,
or chew them, maybe they taste good. I don't know.

Knowing about the cancer thing, I personally wouldn't use it in my
henna paste, but then again, they use kerosene in India, too, and
that sure isn't good for you either.

If you really really want them, probably the only way is if you know
someone going overseas who can bring a small amount back for you. You
should check legalities first, though. Wouldn't want anyone busted at
customs.
