: I used to work for a henna salon who used a secret recipe. As far : as I could tell, it contained eucylptus and clove oil. The results : were fantastic!! The color was a deep maroon color on most people : which was achieved after leaving the paste on for 6 hours, and lasted : an average of two weeks. The paste was a dark brown instead of dark : green. I assume that something reddish is being added to the paste. I : haven't measured the ph in any of my tests, so I will do that next. : We applied lemon juice to the dried paste, and told our clients to : leave it on for at least six hours. Does anyone else have any ideas : on how to achieve the deepest and reddest color? : Also, I heard that someone was using highly potent mustard seed : oil. Any info on that? : Finally, Salute to Catherine Wright Jones: I think that the : information that you have shared with all of us is ground breaking and : outstanding. I appreciate the standard of quality, knowlege, art, and : science you have brought into this forum. I would like to know more : about the scientific aspects of henna. Will you be coming to San : Francisco anytime soon? Best wishes to you, and your business. My paste turned dark drown when I added beet powder to it. Can't say it helped the stain much though. It just took longer to turn a deep color. It never did turn real maroon in color.
