Henna-Newbie here, with a question

Forgive me if I sound totally naive, but I have been considering
getting a permanent tattoo but I'm not totally positive I'l like
having one forever. It occurred to me that getting a henna tattoo
first in the same place and of the same approximate design might be a
good way to go before making my decision. So now I'm trying to do
research. Are there others out there who do this? I live in New York
City. Are there henna tattoo artists here who kight be able to help
me?

To a henna purist, this might sound like blasphemy, and I truly don't
want to offend anyone. I love the look of the henna tattoos, I just
think I might want something that doesn't have to be re-applied every
few weeks.

Any opinions, comments, or NYC info?
