We hennaed a friend's head with symbols of love, luck and health when she lost all her hair due to chemo therepy. It came out darker than I thought it would and it was fun for her to have a reminder of our friendship. Sofar she is a surviver of cancer, thank goodness. Jennifer : Seems Catherine is on a short lecture tour, so I will quote her : inexactly.... : hennaing other parts of the body (apart from hands and feet) is often : not very effective because the stain doesn't take as well. It can be : done and there are several things you can do to pump up the color. : 1. good henna - get the freshest and greenest powder available, make : a good paste that is acidic (see link below for my recipe) : 2. time - leave the henna on as long as possible, preferably overnight : 3. acidity - make sure that your paste is made with an acidic liquid : such as lemon or lime juice - to keep the henna moist and pump up the : acidity, use a cotton ball soaked in a lemon-sugar mixture to dab at : the dry design (see link below for instructions) : 4. heat - keep the hennaed area as warm as possible, with a heating : pad, a hot water bottle, a heat lamp, a hat...whatever : The full color may not come out until 24-48 hours after removing the : paste so be patient. if the color still seems light, reapply the : henna over the old design. : Good luck and post a photo of your results.
