Limes are a little more acidic than lemons.  With fresh lemon or lime juice added to henna (side by side) .... no visible difference in
 results.  The 3 dried lime experiments I did gave me results identical
 to the fresh juice.  However .... if you want to make a "witch's brew"
 , boiling up  dried limes is ideal, because you can throw in  cloves,
 rose blossoms, dried orange peal, grenadine syrup, kumquats,  angel
 wings, fairy dust .... that is to say something that is not only
 intensely acidic but wonderfully fragrant .... that will enhance the
 aesthetics of your henna (and of course the cloves will darken it).
