Since Lamu appears to be a woody plant I would suggest using the hormone/moist soil method. It can be tricky but if it works It could be well worth it. make up a small pot of moist but not soggy potting soil. It should feel like a damp sponge to the touch. With your finger make a hole in the soil then make a small cutting of a young shoot, using a clean sharp knife is best. Dip the cut end into the hormone powder and carefully place into the hole, hopefully without knocking off too much powder then gently press the soil around the stem so that it supports the stem cover the pot with a plastic bag over a bent wire to keep the bag from touching the cutting but so that it hold moisture in. I would probably recommend either borrowing the hormone powder from someone or seeing if your local garden center carries the small sample size bags. it goes a long way!. Then at least if the cutting doesnt seem to want to take you didnt spend much. if you want any more tips or tricks, feel free to email me, I'm Master Certified so I know a little bit about this kind of stuff Good Luck! : I've been tossing the idea over in my head about propogating my henna plant, Lamu. For those of you who may not know, Propogating is a name given to when you cut a healthy shoot off of an established plant, and you make the cutting grow roots by setting it in water or by applying root hormone to the cut end. There are a whole bunch of rules regarding propogating plants, and I am not quite sure about how to do it. : I know that Henna doesn't like much water, and it seems that propogating takes a lot of moisture to cause root developement. . . Hmmmmmmm. . . : I already spoke to Natasha P. about propogating Lamu, but does anyone know exactly how to go about doing that with henna? : HELP IF YOU'VE GOT IT!! : ~P.J.~
