blackening over faded designs

If I do a new henna pattern over an old, barely visable one, and decide to make the new one go black with ammonia, will the old, barely visable one go black too? I still have one of Catherine's BEAUTIFUL designs on my hand from about 2 and a half weeks ago, and I got some equally gorgeous designs that would look good in black, that I'm anxious to try. Any input will be greatly appreciated!
