I say that it is better to give and receive a good henna "tattoo" than a bad one. I have a friend who is a tattoo artist in training. He gets stuck doing mehandi and would rather do permanent tattoos, which results in terrible henna work. I always critisize him for giving a bad reputation to this art form. Who says that a large cosmetics company such as Mac, Clinique, or Estee Lauder, who have enough capital to hire their own scientists and labs, won't come along and develop their own outstanding product and wipe us all out of business? They, or anyone else with enough money could discover or create all the secrets of henna, and become the coca-cola of henna. Part of the fun is learning the language of henna, or mehandi, which we all can share.
