I too had this problem, until I started adding the honey right before
use, instead of when it's mixed. Honey will slow down the dye
release, so I always wait to see the top of my henna paste start to
brown slightly before I add the honey in. Benefit also: gives you a
couple more days to use it before it goes bad.
