: hi, : I am a mehendi artist and I usually use the original henna however sometimes people ask me to do black henna. Can someone please tell me how can I make black henna and color henna. I know there is dye that I am suppose to add but I don't know which dye and what other things to add. Please give me recepy for black and color henna and I will really appreciate it. : thanks. PLEASE, PLEASE do not be tempted to use Black Henna on ANYONE! There is no safe way you can add a "dye" and get Black henna. The only suggestions I have for you are to use Temptu (a resin based body paint) which will only stain for a few days tops, but they have many colors and black available. It is waht make up artists use in the movies to simulate the look of a real tattoo. There IS a way to get SOME henna stains to TURN black, but it only works on palms of hands and soles of feet. Catherine Cartwright Jones has the answer for that, am I'm sure she will send you directons if you email her at info@mehandi.com Her technique involves soaking the stained area in ammonia, though, so I'm not sure if your clients will find that too appealing, but TRUST ME it's better than the horrible Black Henna paste that many have found to cause rashes, chemical burns and possible permanent damage to the skin. I too, have many clients asking for black, but when I tell them of the dangers, plus that I'd rather not get sued by them, and how beautiful and traditional the RED stains are, I am always able to sway thier decision. Many thank me for the education, and they now know what NOT to ask any other henna artist for! Stay with the red!! Carrie
