: Or at least that's the impression I have : so far having grown up in an Arab society. As Kree says, this thread now contains a pretty thorough analysis of this question. I just wanted to add a Western perspective, which is that I'm pleased to find very little negative reaction to my own henna. It took me a while before I had some done on my hands, as these are more visible, but even that has gone down really well with some people, and attracted nothing worse than having it totally ignored by the rest. My impression is that most men who get henna in the west tend towards the tattoo-like tribal designs, but I guess that isn't so surprising. Random thought - does anyone know of a man who's had the more typically feminine type of designs applied? Do people see designs as particularly masculine or feminine?
