MUD, steam, etc. (no, it's not a spa)Posted by Amy C on May 14, 2000 at 22:34:35: Just checking in on previous topics and sharing some success... Reminded myself today why I MUST take more time for henna. It is sooo therapeutic for my soul. Combined my 1st sample of MUD with Catherine's advice on steam. Warmed my drying MUD by a candle, took it off after about 2 1/2 hours (much shorter than my usual overnight - combining too many experiments into one again) to see if it is really faster. Steamed my hand for 15 min or so even though I had no NS on to remove (MUD did stick well without fixative & w/ minimal cracks). Now my color is as good as I would normally expect on the second day of 'developing' - but only 3 HOURS after removing paste. (As if we needed another MUD testimonial.) Hoping for a pleasant surprise tomorrow. Questions: Has anyone seen a decrease in quality of MUD after freezing it? Has anyone tried Matthew's 'flat bottle'? Looks to me from the web site like these collapse as you empty them & might be a good missing link between the bag & the bottle. Catherine, what would you think about a light steam with paste still on - to add heat & prolong drying time/keep it moist against the skin? If I were careful, might I deepen color while avoiding a melty mess? Excuse me for rambling. So nice to feel among you again. Amy C.
