Henna Paste Kones- what a mess!Posted by Kayt on June 24, 1997 at 20:16:10: I was very excited to find "Rani Kone Henna Paste" in large tubes at a Indian grocery store in my neighbourhood. I bought three and looked forward to experimenting with this, what I THOUGHT, convenient way to create mehndi without the mixing mess. When I opened a tube last night and prepared to screw the applicator tip on, the henna just started coming out of the tube, like it was being squeezed but I wasn't squeezing it. I couldn't stop the flow. It was all coming out too fast to really do anything with so I screwed the top back on. When I went back to check on it a couple hours later I removed the cap and it did the same thing. What a mess! I haven't opened up the other two tubes yet. I'm a bit scared to! :-) Has anyone else experienced this with henna paste in tubes? Is there some scientific explanation for this? -Humidity? Henna expanding when it goes bad? (The expiration date on the tubes is Feb 97, I didn't notice that until I bought them.) Also, the directions said to keep the tubes in the fridge, which I did. I thought perhaps because the henna was cold it was doing this, but when I allowed the tube to warm up I still had the same problem. I hope someone can help! Meanwhile, I'm going to take this tube back to the shop and see what the owner says, the one that thought I was strange for buying it in the first place. cheers-
