: Several questions so bear with me... : 1)Eukaliptus oil seems to be everyone's preferance, does it make a huge : difference.I mean what if you use cooking oil or something? According to my herb reference, (Greaves) there are many eucalyptus oils, because there are many very different species of eucalyptus trees, and their oils have very different properties. I've not found a eucalyptus oil that makes any visible change in the pase, other than enhancing it's fragrance, and improving it's flow consistancy in the very teeny tiny lines. As to oils appled to skin after hennaeing, I've not found one that changes the henna color, other than the same sort of optical change that you get when you rub salad oil on a wooden salad bow. However, eating MacDonald's french fries gives you the same deep glossy greasiness on your fingers. : 2)Skin henna and Hair henna:Are they the same product? Usually they are not. There are a few henna hair products that do not have any additives that make them unsuitable for use on hands...but to be certain, look for a product that is labeled 100% powdered red henna. Most of the things formulated for hair will not work because of the additives that are meant for hair, not hands. However, the leftover henna from your hands is great for your hair. : 3)For adding the tea,do I just rip open a tea bag?Boil a tea bag in a : half a cup of water?Wny particular brand? Some teas have more tannin than others. I use Lipton, unless something better is at hand. I boil 2 teabags in 1/2 cup of water, until the water is very dark brown. : 4)I have seen coloured henna and I'm assumeing that some kind of : compatable dye is used.any idea what kind? I'm not sure what this is..... : 5)Will henna dye fingernails? Henna dyes dead skin cells. Fingernails are specialized skin cells, and they're very dead. (they don't bleed when you cut them). Henna will dye them.
: 6)Roughly,what's the ratio for tea/water/lemon juice and henna? Different people have found different results depending on their henna source. If you look down to "serious answers, trials 1-7", you'll get a description of what works consistantly well for me. (Scroll down this page) : 7)HOw do I blacken the dye to the extreme? Different hennas, different skins, different temperatures: different results. I got extremely dark results (and some problems, too) on "serious answers, trial #8" .The things required to really blacken your henna are discussed way below on this page, and they're not reccommended...you have add mordants to the henna that are unkind to skin, and even downright dangerous. : Your help is appreciated as would replies by email as I don't get on : the net much. : Thanks, : Paul
