I find mixing henna a bit like making bread. Lots of factors affect it, such as relative humidity, air temperature...sort of like making bread, so precise measurements may work one day and not the next. I go for a pudding-like consistency. Takes 1-2 seconds to drop from a spoon. If it doesnt' drop, then it's too thick; if it runs instantly, it's too thin. Drops of lemon juice and dustings of henna powder and lots of mixing correct the texture. Just be patient. Trust your intuition and practice a lot.
