Oh my, i am so excited to read your notice. My family originate from Mianwali, i just visited there about three months ago. My name is Shahed and i was born, and continue to live, in Birmingham, England. My father came to England in the early 1960's, but we have a lot of family in and around Mianwali. My father was about 13 during the partition and had a lot of hindu friends at school. My grandfather was a very respected hakim and also an islamic scholar. If you give me more details, such as family names, village names, (Dhurnaka, Rikhi, etc) i will do my best to find out about your family. Yours sincerely, Shahed. Please e.mail me. I am very interested in all things linked to Mianwali. You may like to know that the pakistani cricket captain, Imran Khan is from these parts as well, so we are in good company. : I am trying to trace my ancestry and origins. Born in New Delhi, : India : : now I live in US. My family moved from District Mianwali, : : Pakistan(Close to Khyber Pass on Afghanistan border) in 1947. Since : : most of lastnames reflect either professions(like Baker, Shepherd..) : : or hometowns, I suspect my forefathers to be mehndi artists. Any : : information about Mianwali or 'Mehndiratta' would be greatly : : appreciated!!
