Congratulations Nick, talk about upholding tradition. Apprenticing to learn a trade is probably as old as henna is. Now if you really want to apprentice someone, in the old way, his mom would sign her son over to you for seven years (teasing, but that's the traditional way), and you would have to feed and house him, but he has to do anything you say including windows. At the end of it he would have a trade, be a journeyman and off he would go:)) If we want to modernize things a little bit, teach him everything that makes you such a passionate advocate of henna practice. Start with basics and go from there. Thank about all the things you wish you knew when you started, and all the mistakes you made, and design your curriculum from there. I suggest once he's at a level you are comfortable with, bring him along to appointments. At first he can new skin and wrap, and eventually can try some of the design work. In terms of money, work it out with the parents. Maybe cut them a deal on your rates if you get a summer assistant out of the deal. It is a great honor to be offered an apprentice, and a testament to your skill. My sweetie was an apprentice years ago to a printer and still talks fondly about the guy even though he put him through H***! Happy Henna-ing Master Nick, teacher Linda
