Henna will only grow where the minimum
temperature is above
60 F or 11 C. Henna is a small tree and has to grow for 5 years to mature and produce leaves with useful levels of tannin. Therefore, for henna to grow outdoors unsheltered, the temperature must stay above 60F for many years. Henna grows better in arid regions than wet regions. The hottest, dryest regions have henna with the highest levels
of tannin
that make the darkest stains. Henna from these areas can be dried,
powdered,
